The brand

At its core, Brandcast is the first code-free Web Content System for enterprise. By streamlining content production and management, we open the doors to infinite web solutions.

We believe that compelling digital content is the foundation of successful customer relationships. We aim to inspire enterprise professionals to elevate their brand, transform their content strategy, and increase business efficiency.

[Note]
The Brandcast brand is a reflection of our corporate vision. While compliance with these guidelines will help us consistently and clearly share that vision with the world, our intention is to instruct and inspire, not to constrain, the expression of our brand.

Brand mark

The abstract mark represents our ideals of design excellence and connected collaboration. The colorful, interconnected “jewel” design encapsulates the power of diverse imaginations and the boundless possibilities of digital content.

Abstract mark

[Full-color abstract brand mark]

The colorful abstract mark is the most recognizable signature identity of our brand.

Combination marks

[Horizontal lockup]
[Vertical lockup]

The abstract mark can be used in combination with the wordmark /Brandcast/ in 100% black, either a horizontal or vertical lockup. The wordmark is typeset in our brand typeface, IBM Plex Sans, using the Bold (900) weight and the lowercase letters /a/ in the alternate single-story character.

Geometry of the abstract mark

The abstract mark is constructed entirely of squares and golden section rectangles rotated at 45 degrees.

Precision and connection are essential aspects of design and content excellence. The geometry of the Brandcast brand mark represents how negative and positive space work in unison to create a precise result.

[Construction diagrams]

a Squares The large central medium blue diamond, each colored gem, and each overlapping inner dark blue diamond are all squares. The negative space between the colored gems is a perfect square as well and is the same size as the center of the large medium blue diamond and the outermost corners of the colored gems.

bGolden section rectangles The remaining rectangular spaces of the abstract mark are golden section rectangles.

Horizontal + vertical lockups

The abstract mark and the Brandcast wordmark can be combined horizontally side by side or stacked vertically. In both cases, the size and space relationships of the abstract mark to the wordmark should be consistent.

Use the sizing and spacing guides below to arrange the Brandcast wordmark with the abstract mark.

Horizontal lockup

[Spacing diagram]

a Use the small inner diamond shape rotated 45 degrees to determine the distance from the right side of the abstract mark to the vertical stroke of the letter /B/ in Brandcast.

b Match the height of the colored gems to the height of the letter /B/ in Brandcast.

Vertical lockup

[Spacing diagram]

a Use half the height of the small negative space rotated 45 degrees to determine the distance from the bottom of the abstract mark to the terminal of the ascender of the letter /d/ in Brandcast.

b Match the height of the inner diamonds to the height of the letter /B/ in Brandcast.

Grayscale versions

The full-color abstract mark is always preferable to the grayscale versions. Only use the grayscale versions when it’s absolutely necessary.

In order to maintain a sense of depth and clarity, the inner four diamonds of the abstract mark are white when the mark is on a black background and black when the mark is on a white background.

Clear space

To determine the amount of clear space to leave around the combination mark in either the horizontal or vertical lockup, use the height of the capital /B/ in the Brandcast wordmark as a measurement.

Favicon + social media usage

When building a 30-pixel favicon, use a white clear space around the abstract mark alone, so that the mark displays properly in dark modes at this reduced size.

In order to maintain the proper clear space and insure the abstract mark appears on a white background on social media platforms, use a white field behind it in the same shape of the available area for each platform.

Branded content

When using our abstract mark or our combination mark with other language beside it, always use the horizontal lockup and put no space between our wordmark and the next word.

BrandcastU.

[BrandcastU. combination mark]

The /U./ stands for university. Use no space between the wordmark and the /U./ Use a square period after the letter /U/. Fill the /U./ with 40% black, or an equivalent shade of gray (HEX 999999 or R153 G153 B153).

Other branded content

[Brandcast Bulletin]

Use no space between the wordmark and the word Bulletin. Set the word Bulletin in the orange from the secondary brand colors in IBM Plex Sans Light.

[Brandcast Blog]

Use no space between the wordmark and the word Blog. Set the word Blog in the medium blue Brandcast color in IBM Plex Sans Light.

Partnerships

Respect the clear space of our abstract mark and combination mark when using it alongside a partner brand. A little research should reveal the recommended clear space of the partner brand as well. In case it does not, you can assume the likely clear space of the partner brand for a comfortable arrangement.

Brand animation

The abstract and the combination marks can be animated to express movement. The video bumper below represents the how the four gems come together to form a complete platform.

Off-limits usage

Maintaining consistency of the brand mark is essential. The following are some examples of our abstract mark and our combination mark that are not recommended.

Rotation

Avoid rotating the abstract mark in such a way that it appears square or no longer a diamond. Also avoid rotating the mark in a way that the four colored gems are in a different configuration.

Avoid rotating the combination mark (in either the horizontal or vertical lockup) in such a way that the baseline of the word Brandcast is no longer horizontal.

Default /a/ in wordmark

Typeset the Brandcast wordmark with the alternate lowercase single-story /a/, never the default two-story lowercase /a/ of IBM Plex Sans.

Distortion

Avoid skewing the abstract mark or the horizontal or vertical lockups of the combination mark.

Outline

Avoid outlining the abstract mark when it is used alone or in combination with the wordmark. Avoid outlining the /Brandcast/ wordmark as well.

Scale

Avoid changing the proportions of the abstract mark in relation to the wordmark.

Color of wordmark

Use only 100% black for the fill color of the wordmark, never gray or any other color.

Full color abstract mark on black

Use a white field behind the full color mark if it appears on a black background. Never use the full-color abstract mark directly on top of any background color darker than the equivalent of 15% black (HEX d9d9d9 or R217 G217 B217). Alternatively, use the grayscale version of the abstract mark on a black background.

Arrangement of abstract mark + wordmark

Avoid placing the abstract mark to the right of the abstract mark or below it.
